CKE wil alle inwoners van Eindhoven de kans geven om kunst en cultuur te beoefenen en te beleven. Dit doen we met cursussen en workshops, activiteiten in het onderwijs, het ondersteunen van amateurkunst en culturele projecten in de wijken. Dat willen we ook in de toekomst blijven doen. Daarom kiezen we voor het aanpassen van het cursusaanbod; meer groepscursussen voor diverse doelgroepen en de mogelijkheid om individuele muzieklessen te volgen via samenwerkingspartners.
Directeur Karin Visser: “Met nieuw aanbod en de uitbreiding van doelgroepen wil CKE alle inwoners van Eindhoven ook in de toekomst de kans blijven geven om kunst en cultuur te beoefenen en te beleven. Hoe? Daar hebben we het afgelopen jaar goed over nagedacht. En dat was nodig. In 2022-2023 is het aantal cursisten voor het 5e jaar op rij flink gedaald. Wij zien deze daling terug in alle kunstdisciplines, maar in het bijzonder bij de individuele muzieklessen. Daar is de daling het grootst.”
In Eindhoven is het cursusaanbod de laatste jaren zowel in de breedte als kwalitatief flink gegroeid. Hierdoor concurreert CKE met kwalitatief vergelijkbaar aanbod van individuele docenten en private scholen. CKE kiest ervoor zich niet langer te richten op aanbod dat ruim vertegenwoordigd is in de markt. In ons cursusaanbod draait het om kennismaken, oriënteren en verdiepen in de kunstdisciplines muziek, dans, theater, beeldend, fotografie, multimedia, musical en woordkunst. En dat blijft ook zo. Alleen kiest CKE ervoor om vanaf 1 augustus 2023 uitsluitend groepscursussen aan te bieden. Hierdoor sluit CKE beter aan bij de behoefte en bij de ontwikkelingen in de maatschappij en de kunstsector.
Tot 1 augustus 2023 verandert er niets aan het aanbod. Ook daarna blijven we groepscursussen aanbieden in alle kunstdisciplines: muziek, dans, theater, beeldend, fotografie, multimedia, musical en woordkunst. Individuele muzieklessen worden met ingang van 1 augustus 2023 niet meer door CKE aangeboden. De focus komt te liggen op groepscursussen in alle kunstdisciplines, waarbij de nadruk voor muziek komt te liggen op groepscursussen waarin de mogelijkheid tot kennismaking met muziekinstrumenten, muziekoriëntatie in kleine groepjes en verdieping in een band, koor of orkest centraal staan. Daarnaast gaat CKE een samenwerking aan met geselecteerde partners die zelfstandig individuele muzieklessen aanbieden binnen en buiten CKE.
De komende jaren zal CKE naast de huidige doelgroepen extra aandacht besteden aan het bereiken van specifieke doelgroepen zoals (in-) formeel georganiseerde amateurkunstenaars, mensen met een niet-Nederlandse achtergrond, een lagere sociaal-economische status of met een verstandelijke of lichamelijke beperking. De belevingswereld en behoeften van de deelnemers zijn daarbij het uitgangspunt. Daar waar mogelijk speelt CKE in op maatschappelijke vraagstukken en werkt CKE samen met maatschappelijke partners.
Vanaf juni 2023 kun je je inschrijven voor de groepscursus(sen) van je keuze voor cursusjaar 2023/2024 en informeren wij je over de samenwerking met geselecteerde partners die zelfstandig individuele muzieklessen aanbieden binnen en buiten CKE.

CKE wants to give everyone living in the Eindhoven region the chance to practise and experience the arts and cultural activities. We do that through courses and workshops, activities in schools, supporting amateur arts and cultural neighbourhood projects. And CKE aims to continue to do that in the future, so we have decided to change the courses we offer; more group courses for diverse target groups and the possibility of taking individual music lessons through collaborative partners.
“With a new range and the expansion of target groups, CKE wants to continue to give all residents of Eindhoven the chance of practising arts and cultural activities in the future too. How? We've given that a lot of thought this past year. And that was necessary. The numbers of students dropped significantly in 2022-2023 for the fifth year running. We're seeing this decrease in all art disciplines but in particular, in individual music lessons where the decrease is greatest.”, says director Karen Visser.
The range of courses available in Eindhoven has grown significantly in recent years, both in quality and in choice. This means that CKE is competing with qualitatively similar courses offered by individual teachers and private schools. So we have decided not to keep focusing on that which is already amply represented in the market. Our range of courses focuses on familiarisation, orientation and going in more depth into music, dance, theatre, visual arts, photography, multimedia, musical and the art of spoken word. And that will remain so. However, CKE has decided to offer only group courses as of 1 August 2023. That will allow us to better meet the demand and developments in society and in the arts sector.
Until 1 August, nothing will change in terms of lessons. And after that date, we will continue to offer group courses in all arts disciplines: music, dance, theatre, visual arts, photography, multimedia, musical and the art of spoken word. CKE will cease to offer individual music lessons as of 1 August 2023. The focus will be on group courses in all arts disciplines, with the emphasis on group courses in which the possibility of familiarisation with musical instruments, music orientation in small groups and more in-depth work in a band, choir or orchestra will be central. In addition, we will be collaborating with selected partners who autonomously offer individual music lessons in and outside CKE.
In the coming years, in addition to the current target groups, CKE will focus more on reaching specific target groups such as formally or informally organised amateur artists, students with a background other than Dutch, students with a lower socio-economic status or with a physical or intellectual disability. Students’ needs and experience of the world form the starting point.Where possible, CKE will respond to social issues and collaborate with social partners.
As of June 2023, you can enrol for the group course of your choice for season 2023-2024 and we will bring you up to date about the collaboration with selected partners that autonomously offer individual music lessons in and outside CKE.
