Spend a day with drummer, percussionist, and composer Marco Toro from Caracas, and wrap up the day with a parade through the heart of Eindhoven during the festive opening of TROMP Percussion.

Marco Toro is a versatile drummer, percussionist, and composer from Caracas, with his musical roots deeply embedded in Venezuelan music and culture. He moves effortlessly between Afro-Venezuelan rhythms, jazz, rock, and Latin music, and in addition to drums, he also plays timbales, congas, bongos, and traditional Afro-Venezuelan instruments. Since 2008, he has been a member of Drums United, with whom he has performed all over the world.
During this workshop at CKE, Marco will share his knowledge and experience, and you’ll get to sit behind the drums yourself. The day begins with an inspiring clinic, during which he’ll demonstrate his playing style and discuss his musical approach. Afterward, you’ll get to work on his rhythms and collaborate toward a joint performance. At lunchtime, there will be a relaxed lunch with Marco and the other participants.
In the afternoon, you’ll take to the streets with La Maquina. This percussion group combines music and sign language in a unique way. During an energetic parade through Eindhoven, you’ll join together to perform the official opening of TROMP Percussion. You’ll put what you learned in the morning into practice right away in the afternoon.
Whether you play in a percussion group, study music, or just love to drum: anyone with enthusiasm is welcome.
