For the first time, TROMP Percussion is organising the TROMP Next Gen Mallet Competition: a new competition for young marimba and vibraphone players aged between 15 and 30. A place where talented musicians can meet, learn from one another and develop their skills.
For most of these 50 musicians, this is the first major stage of their lives. Young players from all over the world are coming to Eindhoven for the very first edition of the competition. You’ll be there right from the start.
Each participant will perform a piece they have composed themselves, alongside music they have chosen. This means every performance is personal, and no two performances sound the same. For three days, CKE will be filled with fresh ideas, healthy nerves, ambition and, above all, plenty of talent. This is where the next generation of mallet players will take their first steps on a major stage.
It’s special to witness this up close: young musicians giving their all for something they love. An international jury led by Nancy Zeltsman, featuring Peter Prommel, Nozomi Hiwatashi and Yi-Ping Yang, will select five finalists and one wildcard for the final on Saturday 26 September.
