Where do you find inspiration? How do poets keep coming up with new ideas? In this workshop, learn to see the world through the eyes of a poet. Inspiration is all around you, on the street, in your home, you just need to know how to look.
In this series of two workshops, you’ll learn to think like a poet. You’ll write poems under the guidance of singer-songwriter and former City Poet of Eindhoven, Iris Penning. You’ll receive assignments to help you practice finding inspiration. On May 26, you’ll bring your new experiences and insights back to the follow-up workshop and share what it means to you to think like a poet.

Iris Penning is a singer-songwriter, poet, and event organizer. She began performing at the age of fifteen and has since taken the stage thousands of times: at festivals, in concert venues, and theaters throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. She recently published her first poetry collection, featuring works she wrote as Eindhoven’s City Poet (2020–2024): ‘Sta ik hier een trui te zijn tussen alle stropdassen’.
At CKE, you’ll regularly find workshops with Iris, where she supports singer-songwriters and poets on their journey of discovery. With years of experience in writing and performing, Iris guides young people in an open and accessible way.

Natemah Storytelling is an open-mic evening bringing together stories, comedy, music and poetry. Experienced performers and first-time storytellers share their work with an international audience. The open mic gives everyone the opportunity to step onto the stage, experiment, and share something meaningful in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Kick-off: DARK Halloween festival Eindhoven

Monthly sketch café
Artists of all levels gather monthly, alternating between Thursdays and Saturdays, at Café C to sketch, learn, and meet each other.
