“Walk the Walk” officially opened

The photography project Walk the Walk gave amateur photographers the chance to exhibit a photo in a special location in Eindhoven. The result has been on display at the Fellenoord Tunnel since Friday 17 June.

Walk the Walk is a project within the framework of Eindje AAN. Its aim is to give a boost to the visibility of Eindhoven’s amateur photographers. For this project, the municipality of Eindhoven provided the pedestrian and cycle bridge in the Fellenoord area. The concrete borders of the bridge are covered on both sides with around 100 photos taken by amateur photographers. The installation was officially unveiled on Friday 17 June and will remain in place for approximately two years.

Feet of all shapes and sizes

In February, amateur photographers attended a Walk the Walk photography workshop led by photographer and CKE instructor Roberto Bogers. The task was to capture moving feet, using passers-by in the city centre as models. Participants were encouraged to showcase diversity: feet of all shapes and sizes, in shoes, sneakers, high heels, or sandals. But all had to face the same direction and be in black and white, creating a sense of movement and unity. The fact that the workshop took place on Carnival Saturday added extra colour to both the workshop and the results. You can read the photographers’ report on Ericamera.

Tunnel vision

On 16 June, Eindhoven artist Hanneke Wetzer began painting the adjacent tunnel on behalf of the municipality of Eindhoven. The artwork she is creating is inspired by the feet from Walk the Walk, and the work in progress was visible during the opening. This is also part of the Tunnelvisie project: when a tunnel or viaduct requires major maintenance after several years, it is refurbished using street art. This transforms tunnels into large artworks that positively impact their surroundings.

Eindje AAN

Walk the Walk is a project under Eindje AAN. Through Eindje AAN, we put amateur art in the spotlight and use the city as a stage for a variety of wonderful activities that everyone can enjoy. For more information, visit www.cke.nl/eindjeaan.
