Burst Your Bubble mural
Burst your bubble! That is the message from a group of ‘outsider artists’, displayed on the walls of the Kruisstraattunnel. It is a call to the city’s residents to sometimes dare to look beyond their own world.

Even those who don’t fit the usual mould contribute to making the world diverse, colourful, and beautiful. In this case, quite literally, with the creation of a stunning tunnel. These outsider artists are clients of Neos, visitors of The Living Museum (one of Neos’ creative studios), and attendees of the Huiskamer (a space mainly for young refugees). Not only did they come up with the message, but they also contributed to the design and execution, under the creative guidance of graffiti artist Niels Bakkerus and designer Lian Kroes.
The participants received lessons in graffiti techniques and design. The workshops were offered as part of the Talentenexpeditie, a joint programme by Neos and CKE. This is an outsider art programme, where people with lived experiences—such as homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges—work on their recovery through art. Both Neos and CKE recognise the power of art and culture as a driving force for recovery, personal development, pride, and self-esteem.
Burst Your Bubble is a collaboration between Neos, CKE, and the Municipality of Eindhoven. It forms part of the municipal Tunnelvisie initiative, which designates the tunnel area around the station for tunnel artworks with a social theme.
