The Woensel Elephant Herd
The Woensel Elephant Herd is a tribute to remarkable residents of the Kronehoef, Mensfort and Rapenland neighbourhoods. Social people who strengthen the community and bring colour to the area are honoured with their very own little elephant placed in a visible spot around the neighbourhood. The elephant design is by Almar Sinte Maartensdijk.
The start of a growing herd
Jan van Grunsven, known as the “Neighbourhood Grandpa” and enthusiastic elephant collector, received the very first elephant. This first elephant marks the beginning of a growing herd that symbolises the strength of Woensel!
In the coming years, more elephants will appear around the neighbourhood. Gradually, a real Elephant Herd will take shape, inviting you to go on a discovery walk through the area to find these special elephants.
