Explore our wide range of group music lessons and workshops for adults. Prefer one-to-one lessons? That’s possible too, through our external teachers who give lessons in the CKE building.
For adults eager to take up a musical instrument
For many adults, making music is a major hobby, a passion, or even a way to unwind. Making music stimulates your creativity and is often a social activity as well. But what if you’ve never played a musical instrument before? Can adults still learn to play one? People often say that it’s best to start music lessons as a child. While it’s true that children may pick up the material more easily, that doesn’t mean adults can’t begin learning. After all, it’s all about the joy of making music!
Music courses
Our music school offers lessons for adults throughout the year. Whether you want to master an instrument, improve your singing, or join a band or ensemble, there’s something for everyone. Most of these lessons are taught in groups, as playing together is an important part of many courses. You’ll learn not only from your teacher but also from your fellow students. Music workshops
If you’re unsure whether music lessons are right for you, our short music workshops for adults are a perfect starting point. These introductory courses allow you to explore an instrument or another musical form at your own pace.
Ensemble or choir
Ensemble and choir lessons involve orchestras or choirs guided by a conductor or teacher. These groups also run for a maximum of 38 lessons per year. Playing or singing together is a key part of our music training. No matter how skilled you are on your instrument or in singing, you become a truly complete musician only when you can play and sing together. It’s both educational and a lot of fun. You can find all our choirs and ensembles on our website. For choir or ensemble enrolment, there is a four-week trial period to assess whether your level matches that of the group. Final placement is decided in consultation with the conductor or teacher. Group course fees are listed on our website.
Pop School
Did you know that CKE also has a dedicated Pop School? Here you can learn everything about pop, rock, and jazz music, or receive band coaching. If you join one of CKE’s many bands, you’ll have the opportunity to perform a few times a year at Café C at CKE or Café Wilhelmina. Want to join a band? Sign up for Band Coaching, and one of our band coaches will place you in a group that suits your level and interests.
