In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create an exciting fight scene safely. Stage fighting can almost be seen as a form of dance or choreography in which you practice precise, specific movements. With stage fighting, you never actually hurt each other. Here, you’ll learn various techniques to make it look as if someone is in pain. The person taking the hits is encouraged to really go all out with their acting.

By the end of this workshop, every participant will have created a scene in pairs that incorporates stage fighting. You’ll learn how to create a stage fight scene safely and believably, as well as the requirements for doing so. To prepare, we’ll do a number of physical trust exercises. You’ll learn to combine different stage fighting techniques into a series of fluid fighting movements. We’ll cover, among other things, punching, kicking, choking, and slamming a head onto a table.
