In this course, you’ll be given imaginative assignments designed to inspire you to tell your own story as vividly as possible. The assignments will help you to think creatively and use your imagination to depict your world and your place within it; you’ll draw things you love or that hold special memories for you. You’ll also draw what you see: a plant or a face, for example. We’ll learn simple perspective drawing and work with different sizes and types of paper. Sometimes you’ll work together on a single piece, such as a map. Or we’ll create a 3D design for a museum space or a room.

As you go along, you’ll get to know the materials and techniques better and start to look at your work differently: how is it put together? Is the piece ‘finished’ after one lesson, or do you need to keep working on it? The teacher will share examples of artworks to inspire you.

We work with different materials (from graphite pencil to acrylic paint) and on different formats. We learn that each material has its own character and that you can experiment with and combine them. This is how your own story emerges, and with it, your own work. This is a highly varied course in which you work with different techniques whilst learning a great deal about composition, proportions, design and spatiality.
