Who am I and what do I do at CKE?

I volunteer behind the bar at Café C. On Wednesday afternoons I have a regular bar shift, and on Friday afternoons and during events I’m always happy to step in. I enjoy the contact with visitors and the cosy atmosphere in the café.

Why do I work at CKE?

During a walk in May 2025 I noticed a call for hospitality volunteers at CKE. I had taken courses here before and always felt at home, so now that I live nearby it seemed ideal to actively contribute.

When is my workday a success?

For me, a workday is successful when I’ve had pleasant contact with customers, they feel welcome in the café and also feel seen. I also really enjoy an insanely busy bar shift during an event. It makes you feel alive, so to speak…

What does art and culture mean to me?

Art and culture were instilled in me from a young age and I used to visit many museums. These days I’m hooked on audiobooks and always have a few craft projects lying around. I always have creative ideas in my head, although not all of them get finished. I also really enjoy giving an old piece of furniture from the charity shop a new lease of life.
