Why CKE?
“When I moved to Eindhoven as a student, I never wanted to leave. I’m quite proud to work at CKE, which has been a well-known institution in Eindhoven for over 100 years! CKE ensures that art and culture are accessible to everyone, which I find extremely important. Art and culture can move you, surprise you, and make you think. They help you better understand yourself and the world around you—which is quite important in today’s times.”
What is your connection with art and culture?
“I took an evening course at art school and studied fashion design. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find work in that field after graduating, so I worked in hospitality. At CKE, I can put my hospitality experience to good use in the rental department and as Volunteer Coordinator. Working in a creative and inspiring environment is wonderful, and I have amazing colleagues here.”
When do you go home feeling good after a workday?
“I’m very proud of our team of volunteers. Some have been active for years, some for a shorter time, and some move on to paid jobs or studies. It feels great when we work well together as a team—respecting each other and recognising everyone’s strengths. We complement each other.
In my department, it’s especially satisfying when an event runs exactly as the client requested. Together with the facilities team and the volunteers, we create a successful event—with a good atmosphere and, ideally, a touch of art and culture.”
Do you engage with art and culture in your free time, and if so, how?
“I have two children, and we draw and paint at home every week. I also enjoy going to concerts, exhibitions, or festivals. I would love to take a course at CKE myself, for example in ceramics, drawing, or painting, but with two children, I unfortunately don’t have the time.”
