What do you do at CKE and why here in particular?
“I give guitar lessons, band lessons, music theory and ear training. When I started here, CKE was the largest and most vibrant place in Eindhoven, full of students and colleagues. That energy drew me in, and I hope it will fully return.”
What is your connection to art and culture?
“In my free time, I play a lot of guitar and enjoy performing. Music is a vital part of my life, as normal and necessary as showering every day. I simply can’t live without it.”
Why did you decide to become a teacher, and what do you aim to convey?
“I went from giving private lessons to substitute teacher, and before I knew it, I was fully into teaching. I think it’s important to convey that music isn’t just about notes and chords, but primarily about emotion and experience. Feeling and understanding music makes everything more enjoyable: playing and listening.”
When do you go home feeling good after a lesson?
“When a student discovers what they truly enjoy and starts working with it. Then I know I’ve helped someone find their own musical path.”
