Photography Volunteer

What is your connection with art and culture?

“I have been photographing since I was 12. It started at the airport, photographing airplanes. That hobby developed into aviation, and I flew gliders and single-engine planes. My photography also expanded over time—to portrait photography, event and band photography, and street photography. That is primarily my connection with art and culture: creating photography myself and visiting photography exhibitions. I enjoy studying other photographers and their work because it helps me continue to grow as an artist.”

When are you satisfied?

“At 72, I no longer have a regular paid job. My ‘workdays’ in photography give me a good feeling when what I set out to achieve that day goes well. A beautiful portrait or fashion shoot, a street photography day trip in Amsterdam, photographing a music performance (from classical to heavy metal)—I enjoy it all equally. And if I’m not satisfied with the result, I at least hope to have learned something for next time.”

Why CKE?

“Music performances brought me into contact with CKE. A driven and professional group of people offers a wide range of art activities, all in a friendly atmosphere and a beautiful venue. That was enough to convince me to volunteer.”
