Dance Teacher

Anouk Smulders

Since I was young, I have loved music and dance. Wherever there was music, you’d find me dancing (and I still do 😉). This passion grew into taking dance classes myself, attending the dance academy, and now teaching dance.

When I was younger, I spent many hours at CKE taking part in the Art Class Project at Sint-Joris College. There, through blood, sweat, and tears, I learned the technique, enjoyed the musical accompaniment, and was inspired by the professional, highly trained dance teachers. After graduating from the Dance Academy in Rotterdam, I couldn’t wait to return to Brabant. So when I saw a vacancy at CKE, I didn’t have to think twice—the circle was complete!

Why or when did you decide to become a teacher?

Even as a child, I would say I wanted to be a ‘dance teacher’ when I grew up. In my fourth year of secondary school, I realized: “Yes, I really want to become a dance teacher.” My passion for dance comes from the joy and energy it gives me.

What do you find important to pass on in your lessons?

I want to share the same passion and energy with my students. With my enthusiasm, I try to inspire them and ensure they leave class feeling good. I provide them with tools to master the technique and encourage them to keep challenging themselves in a positive way. When I see my students with flushed cheeks, sweat shining, and leaving with a sparkle in their eyes and a smile on their faces, I feel completely fulfilled and know that I’ve done my job well.
