What do you do at CKE and why here in particular?
“I’m a theatre teacher and I also like to get involved in other internal matters at CKE. After my studies in Utrecht, I wanted to return to Brabant. The variety of tasks immediately appealed to me.”
What is your connection to art and culture?
“For me, art and culture are fluid: they can be anything. They help me understand myself and connect with the world. When words fall short, art provides a language of feeling that transcends ages, backgrounds and beliefs. I often visit theatres, cinemas, museums and other cultural events. This keeps me informed and allows me to inspire my students.”
Why did you decide to become a teacher, and what do you consider important to pass on?
“When I was fifteen, I started theatre lessons and was inspired by a teacher who helped me grow. Now I want to offer that to others: theatre should be a space for societal themes, personal growth, enjoyment, and artistic development, where vulnerability actually provides strength.”
When do you go home feeling good after a lesson?
“When something finally works: a scene flows well, a line lands, or a silence resonates. The best part is when players realise what they themselves are capable of achieving.”
